A bit of vanilla, orange, and cinnamon gives this delicious cranberry sauce a sweet holiday flavor. This is something you can make the day ahead of Thanksgiving or Christmas. It tastes even better after chilling for a day.
Bring sugar and water to a boil in a large saucepan over medium high heat.
Add in rinsed and dried cranberries. Stir in cinnamon and grated orange peel. Return to a boil.
Reduce heat to medium low and simmer 10 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce begins to thicken, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Let cool to room temperature, cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
