This Acai and Blueberry Smoothie is a nice change of pace from the green smoothies I’ve been drinking just about every day. I picked up these frozen acai smoothie packs that don’t contain any added sugar; the banana and blueberries add enough sweetness. This smoothie is my go-to immunity boosting and anti-oxidant drink. Acai and blueberries are both loaded with powerful anti-oxidants; bananas and flax seeds are high in fiber, energy boosting, and strengthen the immune system. Almond milk does it all- more energy, high in calcium and fiber, and loaded with anti-oxidants. I added in a bit of protein powder (vanilla flavored) to make this smoothie a little more filling. Cheers!
Place the almond milk, banana, frozen acai smoothie pack, frozen blueberries, flax seed, and protein powder in a blender. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds. You can use fresh blueberries instead of frozen, as long as your acai pack is nice and cold to keep the smoothie chilled. I used the Sambazon smoothie pack that I purchased from the frozen food section at my local grocery store. I know Whole Foods carries them too, but you can also order some organic acai powder online to still get the benefits of acai berry.
This recipe yields 2 small or 1 large smoothie. Garnish with some additional blueberries and serve immediately.
