This has become a perfect last minute dinner idea! Customize this pizza bread to your taste. I chose to make mine with pepperoni, onion, and yellow bell pepper. And of course fresh mozzarella!
Preheat oven to 500. Prepare your favorite toppings.
Slice your bread in half lengthwise and place open-faced onto a cookie sheet.This time, instead of French bread, I used Ciabatta bread, which I also highly recommend.
Add desired amount of sauce to each loaf, spreading thin. I used about 1/3 of the jar per loaf.
Add toppings. I used pepper, onion, and pepperoni.
Top each loaf with 1 cup of cheese and bake 5-7 minutes, or until cheese is melted and slightly golden brown. The high heat and short baking time really crisps the bread and gives the cheese a great flavor. Cut into 2-3 inch strips and serve.
