I’ve been on a massive smoothie kick lately. They give me bursts of energy and nutrition to keep cravings and drowsiness at bay. Most of the smoothies I make are green and loaded with kale or spinach, but I was in the mood for something a tiny bit sweeter without compromising the health benefits. This Banana Coconut Smoothie is so rich and creamy you’d think it was a milkshake! I like to save it for a post-workout snack. Not only does it give me something to look forward to, but it helps me recharge. Give this flavor combo a try tomorrow morning for breakfast; you’ll get addicted!

I prefer to use unsweetened coconut milk in my smoothies, and sweeten them up on my own with healthier swaps, like dates. Use chilled coconut milk if you can; it helps keep the smoothie nice and cold. Pour in 1 can of milk (or about 1 1/2 cups) into a large blender. Add in the ripe banana, 3 dates, dark chocolate, and 3 large ice cubes. Blend until you have a thick and creamy smoothie, about 20-30 seconds. Pour into 2 small or 1 large glass and enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk unsweetened, chilled
  • 1 large banana ripe
  • 3 dates seeds removed
  • 1 tbsp dark chocolate chips
  • 3 ice cubes
Instructions
  1. Add the coconut milk, banana, dates, chocolate, and ice into a blender in that order.
  2. Blend until ice is crushed and smoothie is thick, about 20-30 seconds.
  3. Serve immediately in 2 small or 1 large glass.
